Levada dos Cedros

The Cedros Levada originates in water of Lombo do Cedro outcrops, the 1000 meters of altitude, on the slope of the right bank of the Ribeira da Janela. With a 17th-century building, this levada is one of the most primitive built on the island, being dug in the soil of the hillside and only paved in areas where the soil is more crumbly. This course is part of a forest area originating in wood, lush State of conservation and development, the Laurissilva forest, classified as World Natural Heritage by UNESCO, and a member of the European network of important community sites -Natura 2000.The walk is about 7 km and aprom  3 hours.levada_cedros_teaser
